GALA AUCTION RAISES $100,000Wednesday, Jun 10, 2015
Despite howling wind and pouring rain, over 295 people braved the weather to attend our ninth Gala Auction Evening and celebrate our first eleven years in operation. A big thank you to all who gave their time and energy to make the Gala such a successful event!
Our gracious hosts’ Liz Marvelly and Te Radar, kept the evening flowing with equal measures of information about what we do and what we need ($750,000) to continuing doing it. While our guest speakers, parents' Tony and Annie generously shared the journey and impact music therapy has had on their son and family's life.
Barfoot & Thompson auctioneer Tony Loughran led the live auction, encouraging a bidding frenzy on many unique items. Even Sir Graham Henry got into the spirit of things by offering $1000 to see Ms Marvelly and our founder and fellow rugby test match national anthem singer, Hinewehi Mohi, perform God Defend New Zealand both in English and Te Reo.
To all the businesses, organisations and individuals who kindly donated goods for the live and silent auction, we thank you. To our entertainment courtesy of Fly My Pretties, superb! Our thanks also to our hardworking Board of Trustees who helped make the evening such a success. And finally our thanks to all the volunteers who ensured the night ran smoothly. With your support we are able to continue to changes the lives of children and young people with special needs, through music.« Back
