We did it Aotearoa ... Officially Amazing

In the words of Dame Hinewehi, “This momentous event has enabled us to showcase our rich cultural heritage to the world and reinforce the deep connection we all share. I am so proud to be a New Zealander and hope that everyone can celebrate what we’ve achieved together,”

It was a proud moment at Eden Park on Sunday 29th September. The wairua and aroha swirling in the air was electric as Aotearoa stood united in our diversity to settle the world record - and we did exactly that!

Tāmaki Makaurau set the stage for 6467 people to claim a new Guinness World Records for the Largest Haka - and in the words of Brian Soble, the adjudicator, we are Officially Amazing!

We would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei for the incredibly moving haka pōhiri onto the pitch, and Ngāti Toa Rangatira for their aroha and encouragement for the use of the haka Ka Mate, composed by their ancestor Te Rauparaha. We would also like to thank Te Matatini, the Tāmaki kapa haka and Te Whare Tū Taua for their immense contribution and support.

Thank you for supporting this kaupapa from the start. Claiming our mark in Aotearoa's history would not have happened without the support and collaboration of sponsors and event partners, and we are incredibly grateful for your generous contribution.
