Luke Stothart
Registered Music Therapist
Auckland Regional Centre
Luke grew up in a small town in Hawke’s Bay. Coming from a musical family, Luke began playing the violin at the age of 6. He shared a strong connection with his late grandmother, who accompanied him on the piano through his violin exams. During his teenage years Luke began to explore new musical realms, playing the guitar and singing in a number of bands and composing his own music on the side. He took his interest in music to Victoria University of Wellington in 2013, completing a Bachelor of Music majoring in Sonic Arts and Music Technology, before beginning a Master of Music Therapy degree in 2016.
After graduating in 2018, Luke worked a number of different jobs in Wellington. These included working as a Registered Music Therapist, music teacher and disability support worker. Luke spent 7 months overseas travelling in 2019-20 where he learnt endless invaluable life lessons – many of which he employs in his music therapy work today.
Luke is a keen sportsman, and enjoys playing football competitively as well as basketball, golf, cricket and tennis socially – he’ll give anything a try!
