Sam is a musician and music therapist born and raised in Bristol, United Kingdom. He plays a number of instruments but is predominantly a guitarist and songwriter and has played both solo and in bands across the United Kingdom. While working as a key worker for a child in a school in London, he experienced the therapeutic benefits of music first-hand and this drove him to study music therapy at a postgraduate level.
Sam graduated from Roehampton University with a first class honours MA in Music Therapy and has had training in special education academies, adult mental health rehabilitation units and the London Hospital of Neurodisability. Since graduating he has worked in mainstream primary schools and dementia care homes.
Sam is part of a songwriting and performing duo called Musicalternative who focus on creating material for children, teachers, parents and social media companies. The work has been featured online and accrued over 20 million views on YouTube and Facebook. Sam’s songs have a strong focus on special needs education and other song topics include mental health matters such as anxiety and depression, confidence-building, being safe online and staying active.
In his spare time Sam loves playing football, running and writing short stories and songs.
