Matt hails from the USA, though he has spent his adult life living in London honing his musical craft. With a longstanding passion for music and psychology, Matt was drawn towards a career in music therapy. Matt graduated from University of Roehampton with an MA in Music Therapy, having previously completed a BA in Popular Music Performance from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP).
Prior to, and since, graduating Matt has worked with adolescents in Special Educational Needs schools, as well as with adults in an inpatient mental health hospital.With the vast possibilities of music therapy, Matt is keen to develop his practice across a wide range of clinical settings.
Growing up Matt began playing music from the age of 6, beginning with the drums and eventually moving onto the guitar, saxophone, piano and voice. Throughout his time playing music, Matt has been interested in songwriting and music composition in a variety of genres, including Rock, Jazz-funk, Gypsy Jazz, Bluegrass and Folk.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys being outdoors, socializing and making new connections. He is excited to be with his extended family in Aotearoa, experience the cultures and explore the landscapes.
